Fatal Attack at Dallas ICE Facility Leaves Two Detainees Dead, Shooter Deceased

Multiple emergency vehicles, including a Dallas Marshal squad car, a Dallas Police vehicle, and a Dallas Fire-Rescue truck, are parked on a wet road with their red and blue emergency lights flashing near an interstate highway sign.

A deadly shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas, left three people dead on Wednesday morning, including the suspected gunman. Another person was injured and taken to the hospital as authorities launched a large-scale federal investigation into the attack.

The incident unfolded at the ICE field office located on North Stemmons Freeway and quickly triggered heavy law enforcement response across the area.

Gunfire Erupts Outside Dallas ICE Building

According to the Dallas Police Department, the shooting began shortly before 7:00 a.m. local time. Investigators said the suspect opened fire from an elevated position near the government facility.

Police sources believe the attack may have happened while detainees were being transferred near a transport bus outside the building.

Officials later confirmed that two ICE detainees were killed during the shooting. One victim died at the scene, while the second later died from injuries.

A third individual was hospitalized, though authorities did not immediately release details about the person’s condition.

Federal officials stated that no ICE officers or federal agents were injured during the attack.

Suspected Gunman Found Dead Nearby

Law enforcement officers responding to the scene discovered the suspected shooter dead on the roof of a nearby building.

Authorities said the gunman appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police sources identified the suspect as a white male armed with a rifle, though officials have not yet publicly released his identity.

Investigators are continuing to examine evidence from the scene while working to determine a possible motive.

Federal Officials Respond to the Attack

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed there were multiple deaths and injuries connected to the shooting.

In a statement, Noem described the incident as part of what she called an increase in violence targeting ICE personnel and federal law enforcement agencies.

Vice President JD Vance also responded publicly, condemning the attack and offering condolences to the victims and their families.

Security Concerns Rise Around ICE Facilities

The attack has renewed national debate over security at federal immigration facilities and the increasingly tense political climate surrounding U.S. immigration policy.

Officials noted that the same Dallas ICE location reportedly received a bomb threat last month, raising additional concerns about ongoing threats against federal buildings connected to immigration enforcement.

Federal agencies, including the FBI and Homeland Security investigators, remain actively involved in the case as authorities continue searching for answers.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say more information could be released in the coming days.
